The seemingly unholy mashup of ice cream and Kraft macaroni and cheese is a surprising hit with consumers and reviewers, with the ice cream quickly selling out online. The pints were so popular that the website crashed due to the number of people trying to buy the mashup.

The cheesy ice cream was made in a partnership between Kraft Foods and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and debuted in stores and online on July 14, with pints going for $12.

The bright yellow ice cream is tangy, rich, cheesy, and sweet, according to Insider's Samantha Grindell, who tried some.

"The first bite tasted exactly like a spoonful of smooth Kraft Macaroni & Cheese," she said. "It was a bit surprising at first to consume the taste of mac and cheese in a frozen form, but it was comforting and delicious in a way I didn't expect."

The ice cream combines the flavors of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese with ice cream and was made without artificial dyes, flavors, or preservatives, according to a Kraft Heinz press release.

Twitter users and comedians initially dunked on the ice cream, with Stephen Colbert joking that the ice cream would give consumers diarrhea and saying "nothing means anything anymore."

A TikTok video showed a long line of people waiting to try the ice cream in New York City's Union Square, where a Van Leeuwen and Kraft food truck was passing out ice cream for free.

A writer for Eater said the flavor was similar to Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, and was buttery and slightly funky.

"However skeptical you may be about the pairing of macaroni and cheese and ice cream, I regret to inform you that this unhinged mashup is actually delicious," she said.
